Scrollback privacy policy
Scrollback: Chat Exporter for Discord. Last updated 30 October 2026.
Scrollback is a browser extension that saves copies of Discord messages you open in your own browser. This policy explains what it handles and where that data goes.
What Scrollback reads
When you open discord.com, Scrollback reads the message lists that the Discord web app downloads for you. This includes message text, author display names and IDs, timestamps, attachment links, embeds, stickers, replies and reaction counts. If you open the list of people who reacted to a message, Scrollback also saves those names.
Scrollback also reads the address and title of the Discord tab so it can label each saved chat with its channel and server name.
Scrollback does not read your password, your login token, cookies or request headers. It does not send any requests to Discord of its own.
Where the data goes
All saved data stays in your browser profile on your device, in the extension's own storage. Scrollback has no server. It does not use analytics, advertising, tracking or remote code. It does not sell, share or transfer data to anyone.
Data leaves the extension only when you choose to do so: when you copy an export to the clipboard, download an export file, or save media files to your Downloads folder. Media files download from Discord's own content servers.
Keeping and deleting data
Data stays until you delete it. In the Scrollback library you can delete one chat or all data. Removing the extension from your browser deletes all of its data.
Your responsibility
Exports can contain other people's messages. Only keep and share exports you have the right to keep and share, and follow Discord's Terms of Service and the rules of each server.
